[039] How to Practice Radical Hospitality with Giles Russell, Owner of Two Hands Restaurant

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the leap, made the big move, with no idea what waited for you on the other side?

My guest for this episode of the Your Purpose is Calling Christian business podcast is Giles Russell. Giles is the owner (along with business partner Henry Roberts) of Two Hands, a popular restaurant in New York City with locations in Tribeca, Nolita and NoHo. But it wasn’t that long ago that Giles was surfing at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia and working an office job that he hated. Looking for a change, In 2014 he followed his girlfriend (now wife) Zoe Martin to New York without a job or a plan.

Once in New York, he landed a job in a restaurant and began to dream of owning his own restaurant with healthy Australian fare (think avocado toast and flat whites). When Giles and his business partner opened their first cafe the response was overwhelming. Another location soon followed.

In today’s episode Giles shares his unlikely story from surfing at Bondi Beach to becoming a successful restaurant owner in one of the most competitive cities in the world. Giles also talks about his faith, how he practices radical hospitality everyday in his restaurants, and practical ways we can all practice radical hospitality in our business, career or ministry.
